Glenn Austin
Business OwnerGlenn Austin is one of those guys who make life look easy. After taking over Harcourts in October 2010 Glenn spent most of his time focusing on the day to day running of Harcourts, but now with a strong manager in place, Glenn has returned to selling. He is happily married to Kyoko and they have two sons, Phillip (12) and Oliver (5). Glenn came into Real Estate in the year 2000 from a forestry background after first travelling the world seeing and doing everything he could fit in. Glenn’s family, Golden Retriever - Noah, and his faith are extremely important to him. Christianity plays an imperative part in Glenn’s life, as the philosophy he lives by is “treat others as you wish to be treated”. I was born and bred on the Firth of Thames and enjoyed the tranquil life of a country kid with creeks and beach as my own private playground. My intermediate and secondary school years were spent in Rotorua and that move was the start of the gradual widening circle of experience and geographic location. In the late 70’s I set out to explore and found myself in London, followed by spells in Scotland, Africa and Europe. This was also followed by a stint in Auckland in the 80’s where my interest in Real Estate began. I went back to the UK in 1993 and there I managed a large dental practice in the south of England and this was where I met my husband, Chris. Chris and I returned to New Zealand in 2001 and purchased the Kaharoa Boarding Kennels, which Chris continues to manage allowing me to fulfil my ambition to sell Real Estate. In 1981 I bought Star Appliances and grew the business from the ground up learning many valuable lessons along the way. Other opportunities to build successful businesses included a Video Store, Office Equipment Company and Monkey Joes Bar all of which have been on sold during my 25 years including Star Appliances in May 2006.
