Marie knows that the skills necessary to get a TV news programme on air are similar to those needed to sell a house. What’s required first and foremost is a clear vision of the goal, then the tools, talent and teamwork to achieve it. Now she’s switched hemispheres, and careers, to channel skills she’s honed over 25 years in journalism – 16 of them producing live TV news in the UK – to pursue her passion for property. She believes property, like news, is all about people. Her natural ability to build rapport, strong negotiation skills and sheer tenacity have helped her blaze the trails others followed. Her colleagues often described her as a safe pair of hands. She’s a creative problem-solver with exceptional organisational skills and a “legendary” work ethic. Her decision to join Harcourts was easy, shaped by her first experience of house-hunting in New Zealand. In a marathon of open homes spanning several months, Harcourts people stood head and shoulders above the competition. Marie, her husband and two children are now happily settled on the North Shore where she is proud to do her bit to support the community. She is a qualified instructor for the Waterwise sea safety programme which she volunteered for within weeks of emigrating from the UK. She tackles school fundraising activities with military precision helping to raise thousands of dollars and more recently assisted media from around the globe while working for Rugby World Cup 2011 at Auckland’s North Harbour stadium. The common thread throughout her professional work and community support is to always give her best. She is committed to working closely with her clients, whether buying or selling, to establish their needs, surpass their expectations and achieve optimum results so they can move onto their next chapter. She welcomes the opportunity to prove that her point of difference will make all the difference.
